Notes: It's good to hear familiar voices on Sunday morning. So I sat at the table with headphones on listening and feeling a bit connected to home. 1190s low band streaming works great.

I agree with Ukulele Loki, "Seems like summer ended this past week." Here near Lake Michigan it was 94 one day and a humid 75 the next. Not exactly the demise of summer, but when a drought (-12 inches of precip for the year) is in the process a shift like that can make the difference. A low pressure symbol on the weather map is the talk of old men at the coffee counter here in the midwest.

It's clear that Uncle Jeff had done his homework for this show. The first three sets were a great mix of oldies. Even a few not previously played on Route 78 West. The fourth and fifth sets beginning with Miss Ohio could not have been sequenced better. By that time I closed my eyes and felt like I could of been sitting in the studio, but just listening to the music without the busy, onsite commentary gave me a perspective I had not enjoyed in a while.

A short set ref New Orleans including Waits, Armstrong and Reed no doubt was highly influenced by Ukulele Loki. Very nice and a fitting reminder of that city's worth.

The hot trak today was number 16, "He Lays In The Reins," a Spanish influenced song filled with smoothness and a contrasting solo which caught my ear instantly. Louis Armstrong's, "What It Means To Miss New Orleans" was a close second mainly because of the freshness of not hearing it before.

Standby till next week
