ran a smooth show tonight while I had technical difficulties... eventually
I put all the toys away just as Heartbreaking Man cued. A few traks later,
"If you want to hear a song sing it yourself," moaned Gillian
Welch in Everything Is Free. That sounded harsh, but reflected the same
idea conveyed by Rodger Miller... "You can be happy if you want to."
A few sad bastard songs played but were overpowered by tunes like "One
With The Birds" and "Sonic Wind". I enjoyed some banter with
Loki and didn't let the problems spoil the entertainment. I'll admit I was
in a great mood even though Uncle Jeff had skipped the show and my computer
had got off on it's own. I was roller skating in a buffalo herd while Loki
was organized and relaxed, strumming his ukulele to each tune. Ah, life is good, No? We made a quick exit to Tom's Tavern in a giant electric-windowed luxury sedan. It's a good way to travel, so don't fight it. The parking was easy considering the size of our vehicle and we were in a booth talking by 7:23 pm. I must say the mood seemed somehow different. The discussion was good. This show's highlight was Buck Owen's, "Waiting In Your Welfare Line", followed closely by Bonnie Prince Billy. Stay tuned for more antics next week. |
